Police are anxious to trace the female driver of a white Nissan Micra car who may be a valuable witness to a robbery.
They are also keen to hear from people sitting on benches close to the Black Bull public house at the junction with St Osyth Road, Clacton, who may have information about the incident in which a man was attacked with a half-full pint glass.
The 21-year-old victim was dirivng down Ford Road, Clacton, at 10pm on Sunday when he was forced to pull over by a man standing in the road by the public house.
The man refused to move and was joined by two other men - all were aged 18 or 19.
A spokesman for Clacton police said: "The driver told him to get out of the road but the man got very aggressive and hit him over the head with a glass."
The spokesman said a half-full pint glass was used in the attack, which caused a large cut to his forehead.
The man then went to the car where the victim's girlfriend was, and stole her handbag, containing a Nokia mobile phone, and her purse and credit cards. The three men then ran off down Ford Road
The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The attacker is described as white, about 6ft tall, aged between 18 to 19 years of age with dark-coloured, wavy hair which was shaved at the sides. He was wearing a white T-shirt, grey bottoms, believed to be Adidas, and white trainers.
