Uttlesford will have four police community support officers, if the district council contributes an initial £50,000 towards the cost
The council is considering whether to meet the 50 per cent funding, the rest to come from the Home Office and the county council.
Braintree Police Division, which includes Uttlesford, has been allocated 13 support officers, and their spread has yet to be decided. Divisional Commander, Chief Supt Sue Harrison said the officers would be a clear visible, reassuring presence, and would help to cut crime.
