A national childcare competition has picked a Southend carer as its winning entrant.
Kids' Clubs Network has awarded Jackie Deacon the Prima Childcarer of the Year as part of the Kids' Clubs Network Excellence in Childcare Awards 2003.
Jackie was presented with her award at a star studded gala dinner, held in the surroundings of the Shakespeare's Globe in London. Jackie is now enjoying the tropical waters and sandy beaches of Cancun in Mexico.
The award is presented in partnership with Prima magazine.
Organised by national charity Kids' Clubs Network and with overall sponsorship from Sure Start, the Excellence in Childcare Awards offer the chance to reward and recognise the "fantastic" people who look after children.
Sure Start is a Government unit specifically dedicated to making life better for parents, children and communities.
With more than 27 years of childminding experience, Kid's Club said Jackie won because of her leadership and willingness to tackle problems.
A spokesman said: "Jackie has been instrumental in working with children of all ages and is especially proactive in the field of integrated childcare, making sure children with special needs are fully included."
Modest Jackie said: "I am overjoyed to have won this year's Prima Childcarer of the Year award."
