Budding young tennis players had the chance to show off their skills at an open day hosted by Dedham Tennis Club.
The initiative was part of a play tennis scheme organised by the Lawn Tennis Association.
Despite a heavy downpour just before play was due to start, about 70 youngsters turned up for the two junior sessions in the morning.
Coaches Duncan Prior and Mark Kleingeld were kept busy organising a variety of activities and competitions.
Chairman Hilary Cairns said: "The numbers arriving exceeded our expectations.
"A lot of our members had worked very hard to make the day a success and to see so many children on court was wonderful."
An exhibition match was played between James Prior, 17, Dedham's most promising young player, and Danny Nowell, 22.
