Four thousand women braved top temperatures to take in the Race For Life at Hylands Park in Chelmsford to raise money for Cancer Research.
The annual 5km race goes on at venues all over the country raising thousands of pounds for the charity and numbers at Hylands Park were at capacity on Sunday.
David Griffin, of Chelmsford Council, which helped run the event said they had reached their capacity weeks ago.
"We could have had a lot more but we have to put a ceiling on those taking part particularly because of parking.
"Each year the numbers have gone up."
Television and radio presenters Mike Smith and Sarah Green were there to wave everyone off and Miss Green herself took part.
Mr Griffin said the first runner home Fran Cliffe completed the course in about 19 minutes with everyone past the finishing line in about one and half hours.
