The cream of Southend's sporting youngsters have been awarded for their success at the Essex Youth Games.

About 120 children from schools across Southend competed against teams from eight other boroughs at Southend Leisure and Tennis Centre, in Garon Park, in a mini Olympics.
Events included athletics, swimming, tag rugby and girls football.
Southend came first for the second year running and the winners received medals and certificates from Southend mayor Charles Latham during a special ceremony on the steps of the Civic Centre, in Victoria Avenue, Southend.
