A foggy night in Liverpool cleared the path for a life-changing encounter for Bill and Elsie Andrews.
The couple, both 82, of Woodside Avenue, Benfleet, who are now celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, may never have met if the mists had not descended.

At the time, Bill was working as a naval sick berth attendant in Liverpool and went to the cinema with a workmate.
He said: "When we came out, there was a thick fog and we had at least three miles to go back. We heard some music and found our way into a hall."
The duo in naval uniform created quite a stir at the RAF dance, but they ended up dancing with the girls who served them tea.
One accused Bill of dancing "like a carthorse" and passed him on to the other one, Elsie. The couple wed six months later and have two children and six grandchildren.
