Big Frank Bruno was a knockout when he handed out prizes to artistic children at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Thurrock.
The ex-world heavyweight champion revealed he will know by September if his bid for a comeback is successful.
Well done - Frank Bruno with prize boy Ricky Murphy and Patrick Burkombe of Co-operative Funeral Services Picture: TERENCE BUNCH
At 41, Frank, who lives near Brentwood, wants to return to the ring and has applied to regain his boxing licence, revoked after he suffered an eye injury in 1995.
He congratulated Grays school pupils Ricky Murphy, 14, from William Edwards School, and Soni Virdi from Thameside Junior School, who won a competition to paint a picture under the theme "My Idea of Heaven".
The prizes were a chauffeur-driven night out to Lakeside Warner Cinema for themselves and a friend, a paint box and £150 for school funds.
The competition was organised by Co-operative Funeral Service in Hathaway Road, Grays.
