A campaign is being launched to fight plans for a controversial shake-up of special needs education.
Parents of children at Kingsdown School, in Snakes Lane, Eastwood, are joining forces to stop it changing from a school for two to 16-year-olds to those aged up to 14 with different needs.
They will also seek legal advice after Southend's Local Education Authority refused to extend a ten-week consultation period.
Paul Wilkie, 32, of Harridge Close, Leigh, is on Kingsdown's PTA and his son Michael, seven, attends the school.
He said: "I am gutted and absolutely distraught we now have very little time to fight and we are unlikely to get all the answers we need.
"We are going to have no choice and no voice.
"We are going to campaign against the proposals, at least in Kingsdown's case, because we don't want to see it changed."
A website has been set up where parents can post their views on the plans and posters reading "Hands off Kingsdown School" are being distributed.
They oppose the proposals because they do not want their children to have to change schools at the age of 14.
The website where parents can voice their views goes live today at: www.kingsdownparents.co.uk
