A woman had her bag snatched as she walked down a road in broad daylight by a robber on a bike.
The robbery happened as the victim, who was in her early 20s, was walking down Priory Road, Clacton, at 12.40pm yesterday.
Insp Paul Morton, of Clacton police, said: "The robber came up behind her on a green mountain bike and grabbed her black rucksack from her shoulder."
He said the robber grabbed it so hard, the woman's shoulder was injured.
Mr Morton said the victim then tried to chase the robber down the road but he got away and made off towards Herbert Road.
She used a mobile phone to call the police and raise the alarm.
The bag had about £100 in cash, keys and other personal items inside.
The robber is described as aged between 20 and 25.
He had short hair, as if it was growing out of a skin-head style, and was wearing navy track suit bottoms with white stripes, white short sleeve polo shirt and a white or cream hat with the initials NY on it.
Anyone with information that could help should call Clacton police on 01255 221312.
