The region's first Masters Degree in Medical Law for healthcare professionals and solicitors is to be launched by Anglia Polytechnic University (APU) in September this year.
The aim is to help healthcare professionals to understand the system they work within where complex legal actions can put them in the position of defendant, advocate or expert witness.
The course will also equip solicitors with the specialist knowledge required to litigate in this complicated area.
It will address the frameworks, boundaries, risks and ethics involved in medical practice to give healthcare professionals the best opportunity to reduce avoidable mistakes and negligent activity and will provide clarification for legal personnel.
