Victorious residents are celebrating after plans to put floodlights on a nearby hockey pitch were thrown out.

More than 20 opponents of the scheme attended a meeting of Southend Council's development control committee to hear the decision on the scheme, at St Thomas More High School for Boys in Kenilworth Gardens, Westcliff.
A massive sigh of relief rippled around the room when proposals to put up six 13 metre-high floodlights and extend the hours that the pitch could be used were rejected.
