A major week-long clean-up of Walton has been hailed a success.
Walton Community Project, formed to rejuvenate the town, organised a large-scale scheme to get the resort ready before the holiday season gets into full swing.
The idea, paid for by Tendring Council, saw huge skips placed in a car park for people to dump unwanted rubbish, and dust carts were sent through the main streets for other items.
One of the organisers, John Halls, who is also a town councillor, said: "It was a great success. We have cleared a huge amount of rubbish from all the alleyways and houses in Walton and all we hope is that people will appreciate it and try and keep the place cleaner."
Organisers in the project office in High Street were stunned last week when they received more than 50 fridges in one of their skips. Mr Halls said the final number of fridges was 106.
