Police in Wickford are warning people to keep their money secure after two thefts in shops.

A handbag containing £55 was stolen in a charity shop and £80 was taken from a staff room in another store in the town centre last week.

PC Geoff Whiter from Wickford police said: "We are warning people to keep their money secure and not leave things on shop counters.

"Shop staff also need to make sure they have a secure area where the public cannot gain access."
