An appeal is being made for volunteers for a Disability Sports Festival being held on July 12 and 13 by Chelmsford Sport in partnership with Chelmsford Borough Council.
The event will take the form of a big "Come and Try" and is open to people of any disability and any age.
The event is not exclusively for disabled people, but friends and families will be welcome to join in the event, to ensure that activities are fully inclusive.
Funding for the festival has already been received from the National Lottery via an Awards for All grant and Chelmsford Borough Council via their Community Events Assistance Scheme. Apart for funding the actual festival part of the funding is for coach education.
The festival has three main aims
1. To provide an opportunity for people with disabilities to participate in a variety of sporting activities
2. To enable local clubs and groups to gain experience of working with disabled people.
3. To kick-start sustainable sporting activities for people with disabilities.
Chelmsford Sport is a voluntary organisation whose aim is to raise the profile of sport across the Borough of Chelmsford.
For future information about the festival please contact Gillian Blackburn, Senior Sports Development Officer, Chelmsford Borough Council on 01245 606978.
