Concerns have been raised about safety at an accident blackspot following a crash on an A12 Hatfield Peverel slip road.
A man was left with a broken pelvis when the car he was travelling in collided with another vehicle.
The Hyundai car, carrying three men, left the A12 and was travelling up the slip road towards Hatfield Peverel at about 11.30pm on Sunday night when it collided with a stationary Ford Galaxy.
The driver and the front seat passenger were taken to Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, with cuts and bruises and discharged shortly after but the other passenger was treated for a broken pelvis.
A passer-by, who did not want to be named, said: "It is known locally as somewhere accidents happen. I imagine the Hatfield Peverel link road will get the go-ahead if this keeps happening."
A public inquiry was conducted in May to assess proposals for a link road between Hatfield Peverel and Witham, allowing traffic to drive between the two without going on to the A12 and supporters of the scheme say it will reduce accidents and congestion.
If the plans receive the go-ahead from the Government, a single new junction with the A12 would replace the existing Hatfield Peverel north and Witham south junctions, which do not meet current safety criteria set by the Highways Agency
