A woman was taken to hospital after her car ploughed into railings as she tried to get out of the way of two vehicles which were racing each other, firefighters said today.
Firefighters were called to the crash scene in London Road, Hadleigh, near the junction with Castle Road, at 1am today.
Insp Grahame Pinder, of Rayleigh road policing unit, said: "The Escort driver was travelling towards Benfleet on London Road when the accident happened near the junction with Castle Road. We cannot confirm whether any other vehicles were involved in the incident. The driver was taken to Southend Hospital with slight injuries."
