Experienced nurse Georgina Gordon has returned to Essex as the new director of nursing and quality at Colchester Primary Care Trust (PCT).
Ms Gordon has worked for the NHS for 25 years and joined the PCT earlier this month, taking over from Penny Buchan, who recently retired.
Ms Gordon has worked in different parts of the health service, including general hospitals, community services and mental health and is qualified as a cancer nurse specialist.
She has a particular interest in ensuring high quality services are available to vulnerable groups, such as disabled people, children and the elderly.
"I am delighted to have joined the team at Colchester and look forward to contributing to the provision of high quality local healthcare," she said.
Ms Gordon has previously worked in south Essex and London.
Her last post was as executive nurse responsible for 4,000 nurses at Swansea NHS Trust.
