A coach carrying children and staff on a school trip caught fire on the A12.
Three appliances, two from Chelmsford and one from Great Baddow, went to the incident on the London bound track between the A130 and the Galleywood turn off at 9am today.
The engine of the coach had caught fire.
About 40 pupils and staff from a Suffolk school who were on their way to London were evacuated from the vehicle while firefighters fought the blaze.
No one was injured.
