There was no escape for Brentwood vicar Ian Jorysz when he volunteered to be locked in the stocks to raise funds for a church appeal.
Parishoners handed over their cash to give the popular reverend from St Peter's Church in South Weald a jolly good soaking with sponges.
The event was one of the attractions at a parish picnic and fun day in the grounds of St Peter's CE Primary School.
The church is hoping to raise £200,000 for an extension to the vestry meeting room and a refurbishment. The fund now stands at £53,500.
St Peter's Festival, a joint school and church venture, takes place from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29.
