Two new options are to be put out to public consultation in a bid to solve the crisis over primary school places for youngsters in Clacton.

Last year, Essex County Council said it was looking into building a new 210-place primary school and it was later disclosed that it could be on part of the existing site of Windsor School in Holland Road.

That went out to consultation in November.

However, education bosses are now set to go out to the public again with two new options of either expanding the number of places at Holland Haven Primary or Great Clacton Junior School.

A special meeting is to be staged on June 30 at Clacton County High School, starting at 7pm.

Mike Singleton, planning and admissions adviser for Tendring, insisted the idea of a new school had not been scrapped and would still be on the table for councillors.

"All options are still open," he said. "The consultation has already taken place over a new site and now we are consulting over expanding one of the two other schools."

Mr Singleton said a new school would not be discussed under the current round of talks.

"Once we have gathered all the new information it will be put before the cabinet of Essex County Council in September with the previous consultation material," he said.

The meeting on June 30 will be held at . Anyone interested is welcome to attend
