A great grandmother put on her running shoes to raise money for a children's charity.
Vera Ellery, 88, of Upper Second Avenue, Frinton, joined other Womens' Group Members from Frinton and Walton's Roman Catholic churches for a five-mile walk for the Brentwood Catholic Children's Society.
And it was no hard feat for mother-of-six, who now has 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Her son David, 60, and his wife, Jan, also took part in the walk, in which she raised £137.
She said: "They said they were far more puffed out than I was. It was a nice easy walk."
The walk from the Sacred Heart Church in Connaught Avenue, Frinton, to Holland Haven and back to Frinton Golf Club was nothing compared to what Mrs Ellery used to do.
When she was a young girl, she regularly walked long distances, including the 26 miles from her home in Tottenham to visit her aunt in St Albans, in Hertfordshire.
