Rayleigh Conservative MP, Mark Francois, attended the official opening of a new library and grounds at the Edward Francis Infant School.
The library has been formed by roofing an existing internal quad area and new books were supplied using funds donated by the Uplands Park Road school PTA.

Outside, Students from the Fitzwimarc School in Hockley Road produced murals to brighten the school's playground.
Last autumn, youngsters helped to plant bulbs and trees and Essex Wildlife Trust assisted pupils and parents in planing a willow tunnel.
An Early Years Garden and Trim Trail for older children was funded with a £10,000 grant from Learning Through Landscapes and Sports England. Additional cash provided a shaded shelter which doubles as an outside classroom.
