A windfall cheque of £1,900 which will help buy equipment for a sensory garden for children with special needs has been warmly welcomed.
Stepping Stones nursery at Wilson Marriage Centre, Colchester, was one of three charity groups in the town to receive the latest grants from the Gannet Foundation, owners of Newsquest, which publishes the Evening Gazette.
Deputy editor Liana Kyparissis visited the nursery to present the cheque to co-ordinator Carol Nice.
The cash will help buy specialist equipment for the sensory garden, which took more than six years of fundraising and £50,000 to build and which has only recently opened.
The nursery has about 70 children, half of whom have special needs
