Life for residents in Burnham is about to speed up after BT announced that Burnham will get broadband internet services.
The news was announced after BT achieved one million broadband connections and cut every exchange trigger level by 50 registrations, enabling Burnham to have the service.
The original Burnham trigger level, the amount of people registering interest at a particular exchange, was 450 and more than 400 people had registered for the Burnham exchange.
The exchange covers nearly 4,000 homes and in the next few days BT hopes to make an announcement as to when residents will be able to use broadband.
A spokesman for BT said: "The usual period of time for an upgrade is six to eight weeks, but they can be quicker. When we do it will be well advertised and we will let people know."
Broadband allows people using the internet to make connections ten times faster than normal.
