Brentwood postmen are getting ready for an extra special delivery this weekend when they transport the latest Harry Potter book to more than 600 of his fans across the borough.
The Royal Mail is expecting to handle half a million copies of the new book when it is officially released on Saturday, June 21 and Brentwood has not missed out on Harry Potter fever with huge interest surrounding the next instalment of his adventures.
Pictured preparing for Saturday are, from left to right, Dave Hall, Danny Attfield and Stuart Portway.
Unfortunately the size of the hardback book, which weighs around 2lbs, makes it impractical to fit the books into conventional mailbags and instead three vans will be hitting the streets to deliver the books.
Postman Danny Attwell said: "We are splitting Brentwood up between three of us and getting in at 4am to sort everything out.
"We want to make sure it all goes okay because all the kids are going to be up early eagerly waiting for the new book.
"It is always nice to be able to put a few smiles on people's faces on a Saturday morning."
At the last count Brentwood Post Office had 616 copies to get out by the end of Saturday and in case there are any problems delivering to any particular addresses it is expecting to keep the collection office open an extra hour until 1pm.
Anyone who receives a note informing them staff were unable to deliver the book should call 01277 212132.
