Essex County Bowling Club is holding an open day on Saturday June 28 to give a taste of the sport to new members.
The prestigious Westcliff-based club is gearing up to celebrate its centenary in 2006 and is already beginning a recruitment drive ahead of the big date.
Next week's open day offers a free taste of the game for potential new members of any age or experience.
There will be the chance to meet existing members, see the impressive facilities at the Imperial Avenue centre and try out your skills on the greens.
Visitors should bring soft-soled shoes or trainers to avoid damaging the greens -- everything else will be provided.
The outdoor club is men only, but the indoor short mat club caters for both men and ladies and welcomes new applicants.
The open day starts at 10am, and entry is free. For more information call the club on 01702 338261.
