Mark Tisdall came back to Rochford Hundred with a bang when he carried off Paul Francis' Captain's Day on Sunday.
Eleven handicapper Tisdall has been away from the club for a couple of years while he was working in the north-west.
But playing in his first major competition since his return he notched 41 Stableford points to come top in the field of around 100 players.
Tisdall hit four birdies and six pars to see off the challenge from Colin Tucker, David Wade and Bobby Locke who all scored 40 points.
It proved quite a day for Tucker, named as next year's vice-captain, when he teamed up with Simon Torry, Mitchell Smith and Keith Oldfield to take the afternoon team prize on the front nine. Back nine winners were Tony Hadley, Richard Hayes and Joe and Derek Deal.
Veterans winner was Joe Lamb on 38 points while nearest the pin prizes went to Neil Cochran, Terry Taylor, Phil Goodwin and Nick Dutnall.
