Families in Laindon and Vange can feel safer after community wardens began patrols to help clean up estates.
The wardens, funded partly by the Government, give residents peace of mind as well as dealing with litter, graffiti, abandoned cars and other problems.
The scheme is run by Basildon Community Housing Association and Basildon Council.
