Plans to expand White Notley golf course are going back to the drawing board for the second time, following concerns from residents.

Planners are to look at the scheme again taking into account the fears of villagers living near the proposed site at The Green.

The move follows a public meeting called to give residents the chance to voice their concerns on plans for an additional nine-hole course on farmland opposite the existing village golf course.

More than 40 people turned out for the meeting. Residents feared walkers could be at risk from flying golf balls. Black Notley parish councillor, Maurice Boutell said the footpaths were ancient rights of way. He claimed it could be "extremely dangerous"

Fears were also expressed about proposals for five metre-high netting along the back of people's homes to stop stray balls.

Residents were worried it would spoil their view and cage them in.
