Stanway Rovers will be competing in the FA Cup for the first time next season.

The Ridgeons League division one club will play a preliminary round tie on Saturday, August 23. The draw will be made on July 1.

Stanway boss Steve Ball said: "It's a great bonus for us to be involved in the FA Cup.

"We're looking forward to playing in it, even though our main priority is obviously the league."

Wivenhoe Town, Witham Town, Halstead Town and Tiptree United are also involved in this stage of the competition.

Braintree Town and Heybridge Swifts enter three games later at the second round qualifying stage.

Colchester United will be in the first round draw, with their first FA Cup game on November 8.
