Another royal appointment has been given to former high sheriff of Essex, George Courtauld.
Mr Courtauld, 65, has been appointed the new vice lord lieutenant of Essex and his duties start on July 1 when the present appointee, John Norris, retires.
The office of lord lieutenant dates back 450 years and is a ceremonial role involving escorting royal guests visiting the county.
