Wentworth Primary School, in Viking Road, held a Dads in School day during which pupils brought along their fathers for the morning on Monday.
More than 30 dads came along and read stories to the youngsters and talked about their jobs.
Headteacher Jan Myers said: "Being a sunny day, we had groups of children sitting with dads under shady trees and dotted around the school.
"It was a lovely venture which coincided with Fathers' Day on Sunday and it was a way of showing children that dads read, too."
