Rochford Primary School in Ashingdon Road has been successful in gaining a school achievement award in the third round.
The awards were given out by the Department of Education and Skills for schools which substantially improved their results between 1999 and 2002.
The amount of the award, which will be passed on to staff through the governing body, has not been revealed publicly.
Announcing the award, minister of state for school standards, David Milliband, said: "School achievement awards are intended to reward hard working teachers."
Chairman of the school governors, Vic Leach, said: "Without the hard work and dedication of our staff and support of parents in numerous fundraising events which allows school to be fun for our children, this award wouldn't be possible."
