History is in the making as a Chelmsford school's uniform gets a total revamp for the first time in nearly 100 years.
Pupils will be stepping out in style as New Hall School unveiled its new look uniform.
Fashionable - Millicent Hailes, Lauren Rowntree-Taylor and Georgina Carscadden, above, show off the new uniforms.
But the change marks a page in the independent girls' school's history books as the uniform has not undergone a significant transformation for nearly a century and ditches its signature red colour for navy blue.
But the vivid red is not lost forever - it can still be seen in the lining for the school's blazers and as a pin stripe in the girls' skirts and on the collars of their jumpers.
The decision for the new look came about after headteacher Katherine Jeffrey was approached by pupils asking her what she thought of the uniform and if there was any room for change.
It has taken a year of consultation with pupils, parents and suppliers to finally come up with the new design.
Pupils and parents then got a glimpse of the new look at a fashion show held by the school
And pupils are pleased with the final result.
Georgia Nicholson-Thomas, 14 and Helen O'Hara, 15, both modelled in the fashion show and were pleased with the style.
Helen said: "Everyone will get used to it. It's a lot smarter and the colour is perfect."
