New cycle routes are being planned by the council to make Southend more user friendly to those on two wheels.
Members of the Southend Council traffic and parking committee will be looking at the latest proposals at their meeting on Wednesday, June 18.
Following national guidelines, most of the new routes will be on road rather than separate reservations as on Victoria Avenue and the seafront.
They have been designed to serve places of work, schools, shops and recreational centres.
A number of planned routes are already being looked at by the council and a number have been partly completed.
These cover core areas such as the airport, railway stations and industrial estates and also provide a network across the town.
The committee will be asked to adopt a further four routes, which will be incorporated in the Local Transport Plan.
They are: Prince Avenue to Leigh Cliffs; Prittlewell to the Cliffs Pavilion; Royal Artillery Way to Thorpe Bay seafront; and Southchurch to Thorpe Bay seafront.
