Tributes have been paid to a family man who died in a motorcycle accident.

The family of Keith Smith, of Bendlowes Road, Great Bardfield, said the much-loved and hard-working father would be sorely missed.

Mr Smith died following a collision involving a horse box in his village at Bell Lane on Saturday.

A statement from the family said: "He was a very much-loved husband, father, son and brother and there will always be a big part of our lives missing.

"He will be very sorely missed always."

Mr Smith, 43, married his wife, Penny, on Valentine's Day in 1986. He cared for her two children, Maisie and Dick, from her previous marriage.

In August of the same year his own daughter, Gemma, was born.

The family said he was close to all his family, including his mother and father and younger brother, Paul.

The statement added: "He died doing what he loved and we all know how very much he loved us and he knew how very much we loved him."

Mr Smith was riding a 1000cc blue Kawasaki motorbike when he was involved in a collision with a brown horse box at 1.55pm.

Witnesses to the accident should contact PC John Weeks at Bocking traffic police on 01376 330722.
