Basildon & Pitsea skipper Paul Ayres warned his side must start winning games if they are to continue their improved performance this season.
The new towners drew with Epping at Mopsies Park after the plan embarking on a run chase failed.
"The team did not bowl well and on the batting side the plan never came off," said Ayres. "We put the big boys up the order and we needed a couple of them to pay off.
"We were disappointed with the result because we would have expected to have won it but Epping controlled the game.
"The team only got six points and if we keep getting that we will start going down the table again."
M Webb (87) and D Sly (74) formed the backbone of Epping's innings as they made 271-6 from their allocated 52 overs. Mark Ayres provided the biggest threat by claiming 3-35.
Basildon's reply saw Ross Marder (57), Terry Gilmore (42) and Ian Anderson (31) on form.
Epping's bowlers shared the wickets with Bickley (2-73) and Oliver (2-31) faring best.
