Stanford returned to winning ways with a five-wicket win over Woodford Green but could not return to the top of the table.

Hutton drew with bottom-of-the-table Ongar but remained two points clear of Martin Hathaway's team.

But the victory came with the continued emergence of Ross Poulton who shined with the bat and the ball. The 17-year-old claimed 6-42 in 19 overs as he put Woodford Green's batsmen to the sword.

Only Weekes (48) offered much resistance as the visitors were dismissed for 158 in 47.4 overs.

Stanford needed 42.2 overs to reach their target and the innings was put on a firm foundation by an opening stand of 87 from Peter Gray (48) and Kevin Price (46). Poulton concluded the innings with an unbeaten 32.

"Ross bowled really well and looks like a good future prospect for the club," said Hathaway.

"But our batting was a slight cause for concern because we were 105-4 at one point and if they had got another couple of wickets it could have been a different game."
