Families mopped up today after a rooftop water tank overflowed, sending hundreds of gallons of water into their flats.
Tenants were evacuated and thousands of pounds in damage caused to homes and possessions at the council block in Danacre, Laindon.
Firefighters were called to bring the flood under control and switch off electrical supplies.
The flood was blamed on a faulty ballcock.
