Children in Tolleshunt Knights are to receive a £5 coin commemorating the Queen's jubilee, thanks to a generous donation from a villager
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave £1,200 to the parish council to be spent on the limited edition coins for every child aged 12 and under on June 2
Jubilee Coins: Cllr Doug Tungatt and clerk Alan Rust.
Councillors believe the Tolleshunt children could be the only ones in the county to receive such a gift and are expecting to hand out around 120 of the coins to children with another 50 available for sale to parents
The coins will be presented to children at the village fete on July 12
Parish clerk Alan Rust said: "Tolleshunt is a tiny village for somebody to give £1,200 and we jumped at the opportunity. It was a very kind gesture to mark the 50th anniversary and something the parish council couldn't afford to do."
The coins were minted by the Royal Mint and are legal tender. They come in a presentation case with a booklet about the Queen
Details of children can be given to Alan Rust, 01621 817488; Drew Stuart, 817063 or Michael Roots, 817587
