Young skateboarders have been praised after organising their own fundraising event.
They impressed town councillors by forming their own committee after the new £55,000 skatepark at Walton opened in March.
A group of teenagers set up the committee to draw up plans for the park and fundraising ideas.
Now they have organised a fun day for the whole community with a bouncy castle, raffle and barbecue on Saturday, June 28.
They will also give skateboard demos on the slopes.
Town centre manager Sally Fisher said: "We think it's such an accolade for the kids.
"To see them using their own initiative and working for something they really enjoy is wonderful."
She said the youngsters had even arranged the raffle prizes, gaining help from local businesses.
The event is being supported by Walton Community Project members, Essex Police and Frinton and Walton Town Council, which helps fund the park.
