A new secondary school building for Clacton is to be bigger than expected but for less pupils.
Bishops Park College in Jaywick Lane has been operating from a temporary site in Jaywick Lane since last September.
Now new plans have been submitted by Essex County Council for the permanent building on the same land but slightly nearer to Jaywick.
Planning officer Peter Le Grys said there had been a few changes.
"The footprint is bigger than indicated last year but the number of pupils has actually dropped from 1,050 to 900," he said.
He said many of the details had already been agreed and the final decision would be taken by the county council.
Mr Le Grys said the new plans showed three separate schools in one with a sports hall and nursery unit.
They also included a caretaker's house, kitchens, canteen, library and foyer.
Nick Turner (Con, Frinton) said he was concerned about the reduction in pupil numbers.
There were also worries there was little or no room to extend the buildings if it was needed.
