A combination of clear water and hot weather slowed down the rate of tench catches at Rochford's Doggetts lake.
But some anglers found fish to 5lb quite obliging at dusk while floatfishing breadflake.
Bream sport has remained fairly consistent with pellets fished over ground bait in the deeper water producing some good bags, including specimens to 6lb.
Rayleigh's David Smith float fished the south bank with corn and managed 30lb of bream with several fish close to the 6lb mark.
Carp anglers also found the going slow with smaller fish providing the bulk of their catches.
But Michael Eccles, of Eastwood, enjoyed a good session on the long arm, landing a ghost carp of 9lb, a number of tench and a 16lb common.
