Southchurch Park bowls club have just returned home from a tough four-match tour of Devon.
The first game was against Bittern Park and despite winning two rinks the visitors lost 91-85 to their west country hosts.
Southchurch suffered a 31-shot defeat against Paignton, before restoring some pride with a victory against Marldon Maple Leaf, thanks to the winning rinks of Ron Walker and Dave Box.
But the Southend side were beaten in their last outing, a 19-shot reverse against Torquay.
