One man died and two were in hospital after a road crash today.
A Daewoo car and a Ford Transit van were in a head-on collision near the Lion Pub in Mersea Road, Langenhoe, at 6.40am.

Both vehicles ended up in ditches on either side of the road.
The driver of the Daewoo car, a 29-year-old man, not thought to be from Essex, was trapped inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His passenger was taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The driver of the Transit van was trapped and fire crews took 30 minutes to cut him free. He was also taken to Colchester General Hospital, with leg and suspected back injuries.
Both vehicles were removed from the road by 11am. It was hoped the road would be re-opened soon after.
Traffic was stopped going down Mersea Road from Fingringhoe Road and police diverted traffic through Peldon.
Fire engines from West Mersea and Colchester attended.
