A long-serving Ongar volunteer has been honoured with one of the district's top awards.
Colin Green, who works as an ambulance driver for the Ongar Club for the Physically Handicapped, has been named Epping Forest Volunteer Bureau's Volunteer of the Year.
Colin received his crystal trophy from the High Sheriff of Essex, Mark Thomasin-Foster and district council chairman, Cllr Stephen Barnes, at a special lunch held at the Britannia Sports and Social Club in Loughton.
The event was sponsored by the Bank of England printing works.
Colin has been a volunteer for 30 years and transports wheelchair-bound members of the Ongar based club to and from sessions.
Irene Getgood, from the club, said: "Nothing is too much trouble for Colin and the members love his wicked sense of humour. It is doubtful if the club would survive without him."
