Youngsters have spent this week learning maths is useful and fun, too.
Canvey Junior School, in Long Road, Canvey, launched its first ever maths week and headteacher Jan Vaughan cannot believe just how popular it has proved.

She said: "The children really got fired up over the subject and have learnt the two most important lessons in maths, that you enjoy it and that you can apply it.
"Our year six pupils took the maths games they've made, which they have taken a considerable amount of time and effort over, into other classes and played them with the younger children.
"This reinforced to them the lessons they had learnt when making them and challenged the younger pupils in a way that was highly enjoyable."
Each day, pupils from different classes have also been participating in a maths trail, focusing on their problem solving abilities, ensuring "maths" and "boring" are two words never used in the same sentence.
