Tendring is to land an £800,000 windfall to help boost the area over the next ten years, it was revealed today.
Residents across the district have the chance to play a part in how the money will be spent.
The money will come from a pioneering lottery funding scheme, the Fair Share Trust, which is investing a total of £818,000 in Tendring in the next decade.
That is the district's share of £50 million, which the New Opportunities Fund is pumping into 77 disadvantaged areas in the UK which have not received their fair share of lottery money.
The trust's grants programme will be delivered in Tendring by Essex Community Foundation.
The foundation is also managing the New Opportunities Fund Transforming Your Space programme, announced last month, which will see another £258,818 targeted at Clacton and surrounding areas.
The trust will award grants to voluntary organisations to improve local environments, boost skills and employment opportunities and help communities to secure future funding.
Judy-May Brandy, of Essex Community Foundation, said: "We are working with Tendring Council but we also need ordinary people from the area to get involved and join the panel."
