These boys have learned about the power of words in an innovative scheme created at a Wickford school
Rising talents - successful pupils from the Writers' Zone Picture: LUAN MARSHALL
Fifteen year seven boys of Bromfords School in Grange Avenue took part in the week-long programme, called the Writers' Zone, which is now in its third year and has seen 45 boys raise their standards in writing to almost unimagined levels.
Senior assistant head teacher Bez Berry said 11-year-olds had been chosen via tests which showed them to be bright, with above average ability, but unable to write.
The boys were brought together to work on projects which would improve their writing ability, and were able to interview special guests including police officers.
